I have Hashimoto’s …
I have Hashimoto’s and a great doctor. He’s never taken my temperature and I understand this. One’s temperature varies throughout the day, so which temperature is indicative of a problem?

Like I said in my …
Like I said in my other comment. I have had some pretty serious health conditions. I have seen a lot of doctors in that time and none of them have ever taken my temperature I am not arguing that many of the doctor’s were sub-standard and that is putting it politely. It may well be the case If I were to be admitted into hospital as and inpatient I would have my temperature taken but most thyroid patients are not admitted other than if they need surgery which maybe for a couple days.

I stand by my …
I stand by my statement that your personal experience with a couple of doctors doesn’t equate to universal evidence that a majority of doctors out there fail to perform the basics of their craft. All I can say is that you’ve been to substandard MDs and hospitals because I have never once on a hospital ward, and I’m talking literally thousands of patients over a dozen different hospitals, seen an admission where a daily temperature wasn’t a part of a basic vitals workup.

I went to a real …
I went to a real Doctor and got radioactive Iodine treatment I later found out this stops your immune system working during that period I was also left on my old medicine to and got carbimazole poisoning. I also got a flu bug and shingles as a result I ended up with CFS I lost practically the whole of my 20’s to this and is not the only time I have had my c health completely wrecked by “proper Doctor’s” In fact it took the proper doctors 2 years to diagnose despite me seeing them once a week.

The problem with …
The problem with that little theory, is I already stated I have had a thyroid condition for 16 yrs during that time I have had four different Doctors and been under Endocrinology clinics care in hospitals twice. I have also had periods where my thyroid gland in not properly regulated and I have never had my temperature taken not once. I have not been an inpatient in a hospital I was treated with radio active Iodine which made me ill for years but I do not believe that was your initial question.

Two people stating …
Two people stating that their doctor doesn’t take a temperature hardly equates to a decent evidence base that MOST MDs fail to take a temperature. At best it confirms a minimum of two MDs fail to take a temperature. In a family practice if you are asymptomatic or there is no reason to equate symptoms to an abnormal temperature they may not take it, however if you are admitted to a hospital your temperature will be taken every single day, guaranteed. I know this because I work in a hospital.

No, I will vouch …
No, I will vouch for that statement I have had a thyroid condition for 16 years and have never had my temperature taken by a doctor in that time.

This is really …
This is really confusing. Half my family has overactive thyroid and the other half has underactive. We’ve all eaten the same foods. So if it’s determined to be not auto-immune, then how can it run in families this way?
January 26th, 2009 at 6:03 am
hi, it is …
hi, it is stimulating your thyroid > more visible to your own immune system > more antibodies/attacks against your own thyroid - hashimoto is an auto-immune disease. you can google and find out more, if you are interested.

Important to know …
Important to know and missing in this video: If you have Hashimoto, too much IODINE in your diet CAN HARM you.
January 26th, 2009 at 6:03 am
Do you actually …
Do you actually have any evidence to support that MDs do that? As far as I know checking temperature is a part of a standard set of vitals. Sounds a lot like you pulled that statement out of the air. Like most naturopathy your approach is clearly none evidence based.

What about effects of flouride?
January 26th, 2009 at 6:03 am
You don’t have to …
You don’t have to be an MD to be knowledgeable about thyroid issues/treatments. Most MDs don’t even bother to test for low body temp. Nor do they factor in nutritional causes. They just starting dosing you with synthroid. Thanks for the vid.
